How to choose healthy dog foods!
So, you know healthy dog foods are good for your canine. They’re organic, less prone to contaminants, and are great for the vital organs to boot. But, do you know how to choose what to buy for Fluffy and Spot?
Just as humans need foods from the four main food groups, dogs could also benefit from eating an ideal ratio of meals. So, look for fares that are roughly 50% meat, 40% vegetables, and 10% carbohydrates.
Meat Meal Matters
Are you a vegetarian? Well, don’t force your dog to become one, too. Remember that dogs are naturally carnivores. When looking for nibbles, look for those with a high amount of “meat meal protein.” This is basically pre-cooked meat, and should be listed as roughly three of the top five ingredients of a natural dog food.
Eat Your Veggies (and Grains)
Although it is unnatural for dogs to become vegetarians per se, they still can acquire important substances from vegetables. Thus, it is important that your pooch also eats veggies and grains because these contain a wide variety of vitamins. For example, Vitamin A can make your dog’s vision sharper, and can help prevent various eye diseases.
Make sure to look for whole grains, so they will provide your dog with more vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Try brown rice, barley, millet, and rolled oats. Avoid refined grains in healthy dog foods, which manufacturers may use as fillers.
Keep It Natural
When finding holistic foods for your canine, pick those that do not have various additives, such as artificial colors, artificial flavors, and preservatives. For example, Vitamin C and Vitamin E are healthier preservatives than BHA and BHT. Whatever you do, do not give your dog meals overflowing with manmade preservatives. These can cause cancer!
Keep your pawed pal healthy by feeding it healthy dog foods. Your pooch will thank you for it!
